Oscars 2008

Taking advantage of the 30 dollar/movie deal at the cinema downstairs, I finally finished watching all 5 best picture nominees! This is the first year where I’ve actually seen all the nominees. I gotta say, the front runners were a little boring. I wonder if I will ever understand the “art” in say a movie like “No country for old men”. What is it they were trying to portray? The evils of life in Texas?

Why does it have to be so bloody and gory?

The movie that I did like, Michael Clayton, only gathered one award, Tilda Swindon for Best Supporting Actress. This movie got mixed reviews – most Hong Kong audiences found it cliched, and mundane, and too many tangents – but I appreciated the subtle portrayal of Clooney’s character – a brilliant fixer who had so many areas of his life that he failed to ‘fix’ himself. Noone is perfect, and noone can have it all.

Juno wasn’t bad too, but I guess Ellen Page is a little green to win the actress award. My dad really wants to see “LaVie en Rose” just because he’s in love with that song, but I have a feeling he’s fall asleep in the cinema.

On a side note – I saw Vincent, Yin Da Gor, and Kawaii of 同事三分親 at Elements today. They were eating noodles at the noodle place – and sat in the “car”seat facing the mall corridor! I was kind of staring and Kawaii and Yin Da Gor kinda starred back. What was interesting – I saw them not once, but after I went home and came back 3 hours later, I saw them again, coming out of the Sunglasses Store! This time my parents also saw – but why can’t they let me see Esther…

I recently realised- after 13 years of adoring Esther Kwan, I’ve never actually seen her in person. I wonder if I’ll ever get the chance?

re:wow
to be honest, i was quite surprised to know that you are one of those WoW gamers.. actually i had no idea that you were so absorbed into it until i played.. yea.. there will always be a bad stigma associated with online gamers but you wont really understand until you play..

sadly, i think i will become one of those people who die from not eating/sleeping due to gaming (because i get addicted/obsessed really easily)… but… im not as hooked on wow as you think.. i actually like playing wow cause i get to chat with you hahaha =_= in msn i dont chat to you as much ;_;

ohhh… have you tried second life? =_= the classroom/shoppping experience seems kinda mo liu tho =_=
ohhhh… actually i dont have any ‘online friends’ =/ im quite antisocial online too =_=;; i guess thats why i dont feel the need to log on and chat? although i’m online most of the time hahaha..

ohhh… the raiding thing sounds pretty interesting, you’re making me interested in wow =_=

re:unmotivated
=___= you’ve been reading parenting forums!?!? and you are ‘mothering’ ppl in WoW? mmm.. =/ i need your help too.. i think im pretty lazy.. probably cause i depend on my parents too much.. and i have not been out to the ‘real world’

re:body brokers
=/ sadly those people will die anyways so they might as well make money from the transplant to feed their family/whatever… to be honest, if you were dying and needed a transplant, would you just decide to die rather than try everything you can to get a transplant? purchasing a transplant doesnt neccessarily kill the other person (unless it is a heart or lung or sth) … what if it is your loved one who is dying? would you want to get him/her a transplant? i know im quite selfish but i dont think i can truely say i wont buy a transplant…

re:cult
eeewwwww =/ how come you watched that? i guess thats why i am not overly religious.. i dont wanna fall into a belief and lose my judgement

re:phD
what is your belief? i feel the same way… i dont think i belong in the financial field.. i think i should do art instead =/ but you know, money is always a big issue..

re:oscars
im surprised you didnt post any photos lol.. wasnt red carpet the main event for you? wowwwww you even watched no country for old men? or no men for old country (in my case).. anyways =/ i think the “art” is in the way they act? or the twisted plot? i have no appreciation for this though, i rather watch pretty/simple movies.. i watch movies for comedy mainly, i can do without the horror stuff…
ohhh.. whats the music from la vie en rose?
lol.. i had no idea there is someone named kawaii.. how weird!
mmm.. if you really wanna see her, you should go to one of those promotion events they attend? i dunno tho… i never had an idol that i wanted to meet…
